I am a husband and dad. I am a blogger and a writer. I am a curious explorer of the world in which we live, and of the Word of God which opens an unseen world to enquiry. The intent of this blog is to capture the breadcrumbs of my inquiries and document them for others to follow along if they wish.
My family are a part of Citipointe Church in Brisbane, Australia. My faith heritage is Methodist, and then Uniting Church. I have family members who have served in the mission fields of South America, Papua New Guinea and nations of the Mediterranean. Others have served in ministry in the Anglican Church and in sending agencies here in Australia. My wife’s family has a Catholic heritage. In my pursuit of God, I travelled via Baptist churches and via life giving churches in any location I found myself living.
I have worked for two of the largest mining companies, and one of the largest information technology firms in the world. I have pursued engineering to a PhD, and business to an MBA. I have learnt the processes of technical enquiry, project implementation and new skill development through performing multiple roles and fields of activity.
My faith journey may have had a heritage and an environment in which to germinate, but it had two beginnings. The first was a childhood response to a message in the Methodist church. The roots did not go deep. It was not until my final undergraduate year that the Holy Spirit brought back to the same physical location. That night, in what was by then a Uniting Church, He introduced me to the lordship of Jesus. I zealously pursued the activities of faith with the energy of youth. Through reading and engaging in private and corporate prayer, I found my way to short term prayer journeys in the late 1990’s.
So almost 20 years ago I was fortunate to hear a message by Wes Campbell about the activity and discipline of praying the Bible. My practice has been more or less diligent from time to time. However, in those times of greater diligence, some helpful insights and connections have occurred. Some of those insights and connections have generated fruitful prayers. Others have been encouraging to people I know.
My intent here on this blog is twofold. First, I will document some prayers that I hope you find fruitful. Then, I will put together some other articles that I hope you will find encouraging. Following these breadcrumbs has drawn me closer to the Bread of Heaven. I trust they will also be useful markers for you also.
