Updates to earlier posts on Christian Marriage. The ideal of not imposing an individual religious view on others implies equality of intention not to impose constraints back upon those with a religious view. That goodwill is not evident.

His Name is Wonderful

Prayer
Australian Prayer Network is promoting widespread prayer during this season. Please consider registering. Current prayer points are:
Praise Him that He has ‘all power and authority on heaven and on ‘earth’ (Matt 28:18) As people decide on how to vote in the plebiscite pray that the Lord would release wisdom and understanding to them which would enable them to see the issues clearly and vote according to the revelation of truth that they receive.
Pray that we, the people of God, would humble ourselves and pray during this “valley of decision” period for our nation that we are entering, seek His face and confess our individual and corporate sin that has allowed us to be drawn into the position we are now facing.
Pray that God would hear our cry for mercy, extend His forgiveness for our sin, and stop us as a nation from turning further from His word by voting to destroy His God given institution of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
For those of you from the Catholic tradition, this inspiring article illustrates to me that we can connect with the Lord Most High, who is ruler over the nations, and we can cooperate with heaven through united prayer. Consider joining with others to pray the prayers of your tradition.
May our prayers calling on His Name ascend to heaven with one voice right across this nation over the next couple of months.

Honour the Name of the Lord
Both the Old Testament and the New Testament alike encourage us to call on the name of the Lord. Yet we are also not to misuse His name. In this Bible study, we seek to ensure we honour His name. Continue reading “Honour the Name of the Lord”
Neither do I condemn you!
Whether it is Charlottesville , Canberra , or North Korea , it seems we are being confronted with evil. What is even more interesting is our response to it. Is it really the initial act that is evil? Is our response wise or unwise? Continue reading “Neither do I condemn you!”
Call on the Name of the Lord
In its Christian English translations, the passage considered here inspired a journey to understand what it means to call on the name of the Lord. Part way through that journey, a look at the underlying original Hebrew words puzzled me. There is an extraordinary divergence between Christian and Hebrew interpretations. This prompted a search for a more nuanced understanding of the events of that time. These subtle nuances lead me to prayer. Continue reading “Call on the Name of the Lord”
